I was there.
Sitting in my living room in front of my 27" television, watching the clock...soon I'd have to leave for one of the most important interviews of my life...unable to move, unable to speak, unable to contain emotion. I just sat, listening, and believe in the words that spoke from his lips, overwelmed by history. And for the first time EVER I became a true American. I wanted to hold a flag, wave it, and be as patriotic as the determination in his brow. He stood. He spoke with confidence and certainty. And usually, I can pick up on bullshit, but I couldn't hear that of his tongue.
Mr. President.
I know he can't do it all and with the state that our nation is in, no one should expect him to. But I have hopes that things will only get better. I mean coming behind Bush Obama is a God!
A black God.
I wasn't there for Martin Luther King Jr.'s 'I Have a Dream' speech, I wasn't there for Rosa Parks to refuse her seat, and I wasn't there when Malcolm X demanded to be heard (just to mention a few historical moments)...but I'm thankful to have witnessed this moment and to be able to have a piece of history and faith to pass on to the ears of my children and children's children.
The 44Th...
MY PRESIDENT IS BLACK
