Happy Birthday Baybid
I bless the day your father planted your seed,
you were made for me.
My poetry hasn't been the same since I met you...
because all I wanna do is write you into a love poem.
The kind that makes me passionate about life,
those that make life worth living.
No picket fences with red shutters or blue doors,
this one won't be perfect because then they'll be nothing left to work towards.
Travel with me down amazing journeys and parted seas.
I'm okay with it not being easy
-I stood in the face of challenge many times-
you are my reward.
Pick an argument to purse from my lips,
Hold my heartache in your palm,
Kiss life back into my lungs,
Press frustration against my forehead...
let's just vent about the community, poetry, hiphop, jobs, fashion, food,
the bible...
come on baby let's just vent.
And then connect through DNA with plans on how to change the world.
Stand up Martin go King and lead Malcom's.
I believe in you.
Fight like Ali and be hands not strong enough to turn to fists.
I'll be your corner angled in the minds of finding forever.
And help those find,
what I've found in you.
Happy Birthday Baybid

SHOUT OUT!
To Neo and it's Sextacy Night! Congrats to Chelle for keeping it sexy and I can not believe I missed Jae! Dang, I hate I missed it. I wish I was able to write in a sexual content without getting nervous and shy...I'll take baby steps, starting with whispering them in David's ear LOL.
Always,
Eb
ONE AWESOME WEEKEND:
Mannnnnn I needed it too. It started with David and I on Friday hangin out at Barton Creek then downtown to Stubbs BBQ...it was okay but I've had better. I really don't eat BBQ, as weird as that may be it totally contradicts the "all black people eat BBQ" story. We also have this new rule we're working on with turning the t.v. off at 9pm just for the QT and talking....unless something is on that we both want to watch.
Saturday I woke up kinda early waiting on my moma, Pizza, and Jenna-Be (the O.G. bf) to get here. And once they made it we got an early start on laughter, friendship, sisterhood, and SHOPPING! I-Hop was first (shout out to Jose the cute little high school waiter who did a great job) we talked about everything from birth to marriage to poetry. Jenna-Be looked at the pictures from the wedding and decided that hers was the jazziest (lol) we relived the moment alittle bit in laughing at my sister crying, CJ crying, my dad, Sara (smile), me and the love shown by the poets at the reception. From there we went to Barton Creek, of course my sister bought something and I wanted too but couldn't find anything that just caught my eye like that. I also wanted to buy some Chucks-but no cigars. Traveled North to the Round Rock outlet, disappointed that I didn't find anything in Papayas : ( But it was all good, being around the one who gave birth to me, the one I used to take baths with as a baby and laugh hysterically at her splashing water, and the one who I was placed in a play-pin with 24 years ago...it doesn't get much better than that. Headed back to the hotel to check in hung out, then went to Gumbo's where David (the one who has loved me unconditionally) met up with us (not fazed by being the only male)...at this point I'm fulfilled. Again laughter, relate, relax, release. After that we went to Target, now that's my store!!!! I got two shirts, Jenna-B got one, my sister got a few things (who knows), my mom got candy (I think she has a problem-lol). It was just great to be around people who really know me who never deliberately hurt me who love me regardless of what I do say or think, because ultimately I make them proud, who never act out against me with immaturity LOL, wait a minute we are girls so sometimes its understood.
Of course that might I laid my head next to Baybids while they stayed at the hotel. We woke up to sunlight and shade. He showed me how to make pancakes (David Hop), and a omelet. Our own way to appreciate each others time ya feel me. The crew came over and we headed to Marie Callendar's, of course David and I weren't much hungry but the eye contact and falling out across the tables were still more fulfilling than any Sunday buffet.
I was sad to see them go, but I was more than appreciative for them coming. Honestly I needed it. Them coming really put things back into perspective with me and I'm good with me. Always.
Much love,

Eb

A POEM FROM BAYBID
If you told me one thousand times that you loved me, would I believe you?
Yes, Id believe. I do believe you. Your one thousands statements are always followed by my one thousand responses of I love you too’s, and I love you mores…
Things just don’t merely happen,
we happened with sacrifice
we happened with commitment
we happened with patience
we happened with love
we are still happening…
It is so fulfilling to have finally found my balance,
the other side of me,
to stand right beside me,
You are my fill in the blank, completing sentences
My missing link has now been found
My lock works perfectly with your key
You be right, I be left, and one day produce the middle, to mimic and mirror, me, and mommy, a monumental male or female figure our child will mature to become.
This day is a celebration of our past, our present, and our bright future,
In our past…
We struggled to accept differences,
We succeeded with love
In our present we now share that love with our family and friends
And our future we go with love as our rule and guide from day to day.

A RISE ABOVE
It's hard to see the truth about the people and things you love...
It's disappointing to have to put this on my blog for public eyes to see. It doesn't have as much to do with poetry as it has to do with being genuine...a genuine person, friend, and poet. For me it takes too much energy to be upset or unfocused. And as i realize that some are accustomed to mess and b.s...maybe to measure their importance or maybe to boost egos-either way to each its own-i have removed myself from it. I have always been true, humble, and most of all ME. With that I've always been a person to say what I mean, and mean what I say so please always feel free to be woman enough or man enough to address me with anything about me.
Neo has given me so much and I thank you, I owe no more than that. Though I was a poet before Neo, the poets there have either inspired me or hated me-I'm grateful because both have added to my growth, talent, and shine. Understand that nothing has or will deter me of my dreams and affair with poetry. So regardless if I have been recognized as a awesome poet, slam champ (backed by her venue), or just a woman with skills- anything I do or don't do will be because it is in Ebony's best interest. No one will look out for or have my back like I do.
And though I don't trust you enough to fully understand and feel my pain of being betrayed, I still love you as a venue, a poet, a soldier, a team, a friend, and a family. I will no longer allow you to make me happy, sad, or indifferent. You are no better than me and I am no better than you. I just hope that we can learn from our mistakes, love each other, agree to disagree (appropriately) and TAKE OVER THE WORLD (Lol I have to lighten the mood).
If you have ever witnessed me cry (not for weakness but as genuine) then take this as one of those sincere moments from my heart. I'll wipe your tears if you wipe mine.
Always,
Ebony

Let me say, publically I love you more than words could express. You'll never have a reason to worry about me, because I'd never give you a reason too. I know that there isn't enough time in the day for our eyes to meet more than once, but that one time is enough to feed my spirit. I respect and understand you're on your grind making it better for us, and I can't wait until everday is like Cancun, I believe in you. And I will continue to stand by you, because dating was easy this is the challenge (up/down flip me sideways I'll land in your arms).
Every beat from my heart beats are for you.

Love,

Squeak
