AUSTIN, TX – Once again Tapestry Dance Company forges together multiple performing art forms to create a one-of-a-kind experience for audiences. As a part of our experimental series Tapestry on the Fringe at Salvage Vanguard, Crossing Frequencies is an exciting new mix of Austin artists, dancers, live musicians, and poets creating a vibrating force of living creativity. Professional tap dancer, Matt Shields directs this collage of music, sound, poetry and dance into an avant-guard expression of humanity which pushes the boundaries of art and performance. Come relax, have a drink and bask in an atmosphere of audible and visual pleasures.
Crossing Frequencies: Exploring the Surfaces of Sound features NEW Tapestry Company Member and formerly of TAP DOGS, Travis Knights, popular spoken word artists, Joe Brundidge and Ebony Stewart, and trumpeter extraordinaire, Marcus Graf. Our LIVE BAND consists of Charles “Swift” Phillips and Aaron Perez on drums for plenty of intoxicating rhythm, Burt Snover and Quinton Smith on keyboards/vibes and of course, Tapestry’s own Matt Shields rounding out the rhythm with his tap shoes.
Tapestry on the Fringe is an on-going series of performances and presentations exploring the boundaries of contemporary dance and art. Always a leader in the contemporary tap dance and rhythm renaissance, Austin’s own Tapestry Dance Company dances on the very edge of contemporary tap and rhythm with performances EVERY THIRD THURSDAY of every month of our stellar 2010 – 11 Season.
