A PEARL

Have you ever seen an angel walking on earth filled with faith?
Have you ever seen an angel whose spirit never frowned and love was the best gift one could ever give?

With a smile that opened the gates of heaven,
they say she was ready to live.
Said she'd given so much of herself on earth,
she'd rather fill others hearts with joy.
They said she'd create mountains for herself just so she could climb.
What's life without a challenge?
No matter how many times they were replaced,
they even said she had given her wings away many times to those unworthy because God promised her new ones with gold meshed in the creases of its feathers.
She was always meant to fly higher than the sky.
Said she had no problems laughing the storms away...
With a live, laugh, love attitude no matter what stumbled her along the way.

She created memories that Kodak moments couldn't even capture...
I bet you have a few-
her lead in song, her dance...
She always had children at the side of her hip that weren't hers.
Buying us brain trivia challenging us to be of intellect like her.
Whether we were carried in the Taurus, mini van, or the fold of her arms-
she was mommy for that moment.
This moment,
I thank God for loves like Pearls living for everyone else as a daughter, a sister, a mother, a aunt, a friend.
Ready to die only to live with God.

So I ask you...
Have you ever seen an angel?
Because I have.

Dear Aunt Pearl,

Aunt Pearl it seems so unreal to see you lying there without movement. Seems unreal that you were ready to go. But this is your reward and retirement you've been waiting on. This is your time. I look at death so much more differently now since Father Bras passed. I shed tears because you will be missed, I shed tears for the family and how important you were to us. But no tears will be shed in selfishness wishing you were still here...no you'll be the sun that shines, the moon that glows. I'm hugging you right now, can you feel it? Thank you for everything you given. I'm honored to have known you.
