I resolve the fact that I can't live w/o you, and I would never want to. You are something like a miracle to me...I deserve you. Thank you for traveling this journey with me. I pray that you continue with all the wrongs surrounded by reaching for more rights.
I love you,
Squeak
How He Proposed
I had picked out my ring a long time ago, saying that it was odd enough to be mine. The non-traditional type of wedding ring. He didn't agree right off (or at least he pretended not to). We visited my ring almost everytime we went to the mall...but he never really would comment on it besides, "it's nice." Which used to piss me off, but I'd say, "Daviiiiid, I really want this ring." That happened more times than counted, so later I stopped. I didn't even worry about it, because I was convinced he didn't like the ring and I wasn't going to get it any time soon. Time passed and he helped my mom get me my SUV for my birthday last year. I was thinking this was the end of my gifts, plus he got me my first designer purse.
We left for Houston (and he was adamant about his mom coming this time). The night before the dawn of Thanksgiving my mom said that he sat in the middle of the living room floor, folding and refolding his clothes in his bag. She said he also wanted to tell her "something about Ebony" She was washing dishes, ready to use knives to cut em (runs in the family) because she thought he was going to say something backwards like, she pregnant! No NO NOOO! He asked for my hand in marriage, she got the camera, and they headed to my bedroom: twin bed, spongebob squarepants, little girl setting.
Innocently enough, it was 12:00midnight. He turned on the light, and everyone was in my room. I thought something was wrong so I sat up. I had on my t-shirt & panties with a net holding my curls. "I need to ask you something" whispering, I said, "Something like what, and why does everyone else need to be in here." He asked me to stand up (but I couldnt because my t-shirt wasnt long enough-lol) I paused to give him the look of I CANT.
He got on one knee and "heaven's gates opened as your lips parted to ask me on bending knee to marry you" DAMN it was my ring...his smile...his eyes...looking back at me. I was nerves, couldn't answer right away. Pictures were being taken and everyone was smiling so hard. I screamed yes and knocked the ring out of his hand, "Two caret, 70 diamond thangs is not the reason why you keep me shining, nor the reason why I said yes." I could tell he was nerves because of the way he said, "Oh yea, and I love you." Time stopped for a minute and then sat in when I got on the phone with my sister (the first person I called) to hear her cry...I cried...my mom hugged David.
And we lived happily ever after (with a few trials in between)...and soon to spit ultimate vows on July 7, 2007.
